Meeting the Needs of Others PDF Print E-mail

In Mark 2:1-12, we can read an inspiring story of men bringing a man to Jesus. This man, who was a paralytic, couldn’t walk or get from one place to another on his own. These men who served him saw that he had a need and did whatever it took to see that his needs were met. It’s a great story about never giving up and not letting Satan prevent us from doing what needs to be done.

These men first saw that there was a need. They looked at this man “as Jesus would” and came up with a plan. It was decided that they were going to get this man to Jesus no matter what stood in their way. It goes to show that a little determination can go a long way.

When confronted with obstacles they were able to overcome. So many times we’re tempted to turn away from those in need when it gets hard. For these men, it got hard and they looked for a way to overcome. Instead of making excuses for themselves they looked for solutions because they understood what they needed to do.

They were able to get this man through the roof and into the presence of Christ. As a result of their perseverance and faith…the paralytic’s body and soul were both healed. Not only were his sins forgiven…but he could now walk around and tell others what Jesus had done for him!

This man was truly blessed by Jesus and the people that served him. The world needs to see that the church truly cares for them and will overcome obstacles to share the message of Christ with the world. At Vaughn Hill we look to serve those with needs, we work together like these men did, we let God deal with the obstacles for us, and do all this because we love the community that we’re a part of. Our goal is for God’s love to be revealed to everyone through us. Then, and only then, will the world look at Christ and say “We’ve never seen anything like this before.” At Vaughn Hill, it’s awesome to be part of something so amazing! How can Vaughn Hill serve you today?
